What is Stem Cell Therapy?

The goal of stem cell therapy is to use healthy stem cells found in the body to replace or activate your body’s own stem cells at an injured site. When you have damaged tissue anywhere in your body, the damaged tissue lets off signals to attract your body’s own stem cells. Unfortunately, as you age, the number of stem cells in your body significantly decreases and the potency of those stem cells also significantly decreases, which can result in a dramatic decrease in your healing ability. Stem Cell Therapy introduces large amounts of regenerative factors to the injured tissue to substantially increase your body’s healing potential and ability. This injection of stem cells and various other growth factors is believed to activate your body’s own stem cells to start healing the injured tissue. The stem cells may be harvested from the patient or from a donor. Once they have been safely extracted, they are reinjected back into the body to rebuild properly functioning tissues.

A stem cell is unique because of its ability to turn into any type of cell in your body.  It can divide, multiply, renew, and regenerate. These cells don’t carry out specialized functions like brain cells, red blood cells, or white blood cells, but they are the most vital component in repairing and replacing damaged or torn tissue. They are the essential building blocks of life.

What are the different types of stem cells?

There are three types of stem cells that may be used in stem cell therapy. They differ in their harvesting location (where they are found) as well as their functions and abilities. When harvesting stem cells, many other healing substances are also collected.   These include growth factors, growth hormones, cytokines, and proteins.

Frequently Asked Questions from our patients

Below are some questions that we have received from our patients. If you don't see an answer to your question, please give us a call at 844-ME-AGAIN (632-4246).

FAQ's

How do the stem cells know where to go and what to grow?

When our tissue is damaged it gives off things called Cytokines. Cytokines act like little signals to attract the stem cells to that damaged tissue. As a result, numerous instances have been reported that when a patient receives a stem cell treatment, other areas of the body have also healed.

What things do you treat in your office with stem cells?

At Stem Cell Centers we currently treat patients with back pain, spinal disc problems, chronic joint pain, osteoarthritis, neuropathy, COPD, in addition to other conditions.

Are stem cells safe?

Yes, stem cells are immuno-privileged; which means they will not cause an adverse reaction or rejection to the body. Currently, there are no known side effects.

What is the different between stem cell therapy and other treatments like replacements, partial replacements, joint resurfacing etc?

The biggest difference is that stem cell treatment can be “curative” in nature. Every other treatment or prescribed drug is only masking the symptoms.

The most significant difference is that stem cell therapy is safer than nearly anything else. This is because there are no risky surgeries or anesthesia, as well as you do not have a hospital stay with stem cell therapy.

The recovery time is much less; it is as little as two to three days of taking it easy. Our procedure takes less than a half an hour and is done right in our clinic.

What makes Stem Cell Centers unique and a better choice than most other stem cell treatment centers around the country?

We work with people who are experiencing chronic pain on a daily basis. All our treatment protocols are based on research that has come from our thousands of treated patients.

Our treatments offer all three different types of stem cells; while other clinics are limited to one type of stem cells. We offer the three types so that we can use the best one for your particular problem.

In addition, we are a network of some of the top doctors around the country. These doctors are continuously sharing the knowledge we gain by treating our patients each and every day.

If I see results, how long do those results last for?

If the root cause of your problem is addressed, your healing should be long term. Since stem cell therapy is still a relatively new treatment, the current research shows that results can last up to five years or more.

Furthermore, what determines the length and the results from a stem cell injection will depend certain variables that differ from person to person. For instance, such variables as diet, exercise, lifestyle choices, and so on.

At what point should a patient explore this option, is it ever too late?

The great news is that our research shows that it is never too late. Since most chronic pain conditions continually get worse over time, we encourage patients to not continue to suffer and to come have their problems treated.

How long does it take to heal?

Healing usually will start as soon as the treatment has been administered. The most significant healing occurs within six to nine months from the first date of treatment. On average, our patients experience a 52% reduction in pain within the first two weeks of their treatment and continue to get better from there.

How much does it cost and is it covered by health insurance?

The cost of treatment will depend on the specific problem treated, as well as the number of areas treated. If more than one type of stem cell is applied or if the amount used varies, the cost will reflect those factors.

Unfortunately, at this time insurance does not cover stem cell treatment.

How do I see if I am a candidate for stem cell therapy?

Call 1-844-ME AGAIN to get scheduled for a complimentary consultation for you and your significant other or family member, at the clinic closest to you. At this consultation you will learn if your condition is a match and can be treated with stem cell therapy. All your questions will be addressed at this consultation, as well as you will learn all about how stem cell therapy works, what the results could be.

If you are found to be match for care, you can typically be treated the same day as the consultation.

Am I Too Old for Stem Cell Therapy?

You are never too old for Stem Cell Centers treatments.

Stem Cell Centers therapies can successfully treat conditions that are common in older generations. Our patients have ranged from 16 to 102 years old; all have received the same great outcomes. The treatments are done in the outpatient setting, with most patients resuming normal work and activities within a few days.

Age is not a factor when it comes to stem cell therapy.
