Dr. Travis Whitney

Dr. Travis Whitney, N.M.D., MSc

Travis Whitney, NMD, MSc is a board certified Naturopathic Medical Doctor and Chinese Medicine practitioner practicing in the Phoenix/Paradise Valley/Scottsdale area. Dr. Whitney graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master of Science in Integrative Medicine Research.

Dr. Whitney has practiced regenerative medicine for the past five years in the form of dextrose prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cells, and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. His other areas of focus for healing are primary care, pain management, stress/anxiety/depression, acute and chronic disease, SIBO, diabetes, weight management, heart disease, and physical/sports medicine.

Dr. Whitney's clinical research thesis was done on the effects of meditation on neuroplasticity, a clinical trial on the effects meditation has on neuroplasticity, the brains ability to 're-wire' itself and grow new brain cell connections. He's also written on topics such as obesity and insulin resistance in third-world countries, the effects of cortisol on brain function, as well as other health related topics.

At NUNM Dr. Whitney was trained as a primary care physician and medical researcher, learning several modalities, such as clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, and pharmaceuticals, for multiple conditions. Dr. Whitney did his Chinese medicine training at the Phoenix Institute for Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture (PIHMA) and was trained in prolotherapy through the American Osteopathic Association Prolotherapy and Regenerative Medicine, and under Dr. David Milroy, a practitioner of prolotherapy for over 15 years.

Loving activity and nature, Dr. Whitney has spent years in a variety of sports and fitness programs. These include bodybuilding, powerlifting, tai chi, boxing, MMA, volleyball, yoga and many more. While serving as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer, Dr. Whitney was exposed to a variety of training methods to increase muscle growth and cardiovascular health. Rather you're an athlete or want to improve your fitness goals, Dr. Whitney's knowledge of physiology, nutrition, and hormones can help you on your way to your goals.

Dr. Whitney is a firm believer that our spiritual energy plays a vital role in our health. In his early twenties, he found Qi Gong meditation through his martial arts practice. He discovered its benefits on anxiety, stress reduction, physical pain, focus, learning, and well-being in general. While earning his Bachelor's degrees in Psychology, he gave presentations in Neurotheology, discussing the brains relationship with spirituality. Dr. Whitney incorporates energy healing such as meditation, stress reduction, and chakra opening into his healing that provides a comprehensive approach to healing that teaches you how to take control of your health.

Dr. Whitney was born and raised in Fort Walton Beach, FL and when not practicing he enjoys exercise, meditation, cooking, hiking, traveling, reading, playing guitar, and studying all things for health and healing.
