Cause of Relapsing Polychondritis:

The cause of relapsing polychondritis is unknown, but it’s suspected to be an autoimmune disorder, which causes the body’s own immune system to attack healthy tissues and cells. It may also be a result of a genetic, lifestyle or environmental factor. Relapsing polychondritis is a series of painful inflammation outbreaks. It targets cartilage all around the body including the ears, nose, joints, spine and windpipe. Even the eyes, heart, and blood vessels may be affected because they consist of a biomaterial that is similar to cartilage.
